Meeting of the University Hospitals Council – Helwan University

As part of Helwan University's ongoing commitment to monitoring and improving performance within its medical facilities, the Council of Badr University Hospital convened on Sunday, August 3, 2025. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Rasha Omar Refai, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chair of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, and attended by Prof. Dr. Wael Omar, Executive Director of University Hospitals; Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ezzat, Acting Director of Badr University Hospital; along with a number of heads of medical departments, directors of technical and administrative departments, nursing units, quality units, and infection control units.

The meeting began with an opening address by Prof. Dr. Rasha Omar, who expressed her appreciation for the efforts exerted by the medical and administrative teams in recent months, despite the challenges. She emphasized the importance of collaboration and integration among all teams to deliver the highest standard of healthcare services to patients.

The council's agenda included several key topics, most notably:

  • Reviewing the hospital’s operational and development plans for the second quarter of the year, ensuring alignment with accreditation and quality standards.
  • Discussing the hospital's needs in terms of human resources and medical equipment and exploring solutions to any challenges affecting daily operations.
  • Reviewing the training and educational activities conducted for physicians, nursing staff, and technicians, aimed at enhancing human resource capabilities.
  • Presenting current projects under implementation within the hospital, including the development of operating rooms equipped with advanced medical technology, as well as upgrades to various units such as the Radiology Department and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Additionally, comprehensive renovations of the outpatient clinics are underway to improve the quality of services provided to patients.

Council members praised the achievements accomplished over the past few months, particularly in terms of improving patient services and enhancing the hospital’s infrastructure and medical equipment. Emphasis was also placed on the importance of effective communication between departments and fostering a spirit of teamwork to continue the path of excellence.

The meeting concluded with a set of practical recommendations aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare, optimizing the use of available resources, and ensuring regular follow-up on the implementation of approved plans and technical reports.
