In a new achievement added to the list of successes of Helwan University, Professor Dr. Sayed KandIl, President of the University, and Professor Dr. Rasha Refaie, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, congratulated Dr. Fatma El-Khamisy, Assistant Professor of Pathology and Director of the International Students Care Unit at Helwan University's Faculty of Medicine, for winning the Most Innovative Teacher Award in the Times Higher Education Awards for the Arab World 2024.
This prestigious award is a culmination of Dr. Fatma El-Khamisy's distinguished efforts in developing teaching methods in the field of pathology and her successful management of the International Students Care Unit at the Faculty of Medicine. Thanks to her excellence, Dr. El-Khamisy has been able to create a stimulating learning environment that contributes to enhancing integration between Egyptian and international students.
Dr. El-Khamisy's brilliance was not limited to this achievement alone. She was also selected among the top 100 most inspiring pathologists worldwide by the British magazine "The Pathologist" for the second consecutive year in the "Changemakers" category. This global recognition confirms her leadership in her field and her active contribution to developing medical education at both the Arab and international levels.
It is worth noting that the competition for the Times Higher Education Awards was fierce this year, with more than 400 participants from various Arab countries. Ninety-six candidates qualified for the final list, and only 12 winners were selected. In the category of the most innovative teacher, Dr. Fatma El-Khamisy competed with eight other candidates, proving her superiority and deservingness of this prestigious award.
Dr. Fatma El-Khamisy has a distinguished career, holding a M.D. in Pathology and a Master's degree in Medical Education and Health Professions Education from prestigious international universities such as Maastricht University in the Netherlands and the Suez Canal University in Egypt. She is also an Associate Fellow of the Association for Medical Education in Europe, an Ambassador for the International Association of Medical Science Educators in the United States, and a member of several specialized Egyptian societies.
Dr. Fatma El-Khamisy's contributions were not limited to the academic side only, but also extended to organizing international conferences and publishing scientific research in the fields of medical education and pathology. She also contributes to reviewing scientific research for international journals and conferences.
